Abstract
Introduction. Endometrial polyps (EP) are a common gynecological pathology affecting 10-24% of women of reproductive age and are often associated with infertility and menstrual cycle disorders. One of the effective methods of polyp removal is bipolar resection; however, this method is associated with significant pain and prolonged recovery. In the search for more effective and less painful approaches, the use of the thulium laser is considered a promising direction, as it has already proven its efficacy in modern urological practice.
Objective. To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of thulium laser polypectomy in women of reproductive age.
Materials and Methods. This study included 46 women with endometrial polyps (23 in each group) and compared two methods of polypectomy: the thulium laser and bipolar resection.
Results and Discussion. The study evaluated procedure time, pain levels, menstrual recovery time, recurrence rates, and acceptability. It was found that the thulium laser provided a shorter procedure time (10.04 ± 0.97 min vs. 13.86 ± 1.2 min), lower pain levels, faster menstrual recovery (28.6 ± 2.9 days vs. 34.65 ± 3.06 days), and a lower recurrence rate (8.69% vs. 17.39%). The acceptability of the thulium laser was also higher among patients (99.39% vs. 92.39% at 1 month).
Conclusion. The results indicate the advantages of the thulium laser in the treatment of endometrial polyps and highlight the need for further research to assess long-term effects.
