Imperium Romanum “sine fine” и orbis terrarum на Певтингеровой карте мира

Аннотация

В статье на картографическом материале развита тема, представленная в статье А.В. Махлаюка, опубликованной в ВДИ в 2019 году, – «Пространство римского мира в “Res gestae divi Augusti”». Если в этой работе речь идет о «ментально-географической “карте” римского империализма», об «имажинальной, символической» географии «империи без границ» в литературном тексте, то в предлагаемой статье проведен анализ имперской пространственной идеологии на картографическом материале, прежде всего на материале Певтингеровой карты мира, которая, по мнению автора, отражает именно такой римский взгляд на соотношение Римской империи и ойкумены (imperium и orbis terrarum). Исследователи, видящие в этой карте продукт эллинистической географии, отрицают существование римских имперских мотивов на карте. В статье сделана попытка показать, что, напротив, Певтингерова карта являет собой прекрасный образец воплощения в картографической форме идеологической программы римского империализма, представленной также в поэтических произведениях Горация, Вергилия, Овидия, Силия Италика и других авторов.
